Anti Gravity Yoga- Oh and better Sex!

Latest new Crazy Anti Gravity Yoga…. Well its more Anti Floor!

“Swinging in a hammock adds an entirely new dimension to Yoga”. I am not much good at Yoga- more of a Pilates girl really, but I was always envious of Pink dangling and singing on the Grammies! Now here is my chance! This technique, created by former gymnast Christopher Harrison to help relieve his back pain, is more than just proof that hammocks aren’t just for laying around in. It blends traditional yoga with acrobatics, gymnastics, Pilates and calisthenics.

The designer of the new crazy says that helps with

  • Spinal decompression- who said the art of traction was dead!
  • Refreshes your system- helping with lymphatic drainage and endrocrine system- (not sure about this one!- I am sure we were meant to be upright to digest properly))
  • Muscular endurance
  • Muscular strength- the synergy of muscle systems in different positions
  • Joint mobility- by hydrating the joint properly ( not sure about this one either!)
  • Kinesthetic Awareness and Agility ( most of my patients have poor awareness when the right way up!)
  • Myofascial release ( I can see the benefits of this in being able to have your fascia stretched in different directions)
  • Better sex!- and I quote-“Greater Awareness leads to enhanced pleasure. Yoga is a practice of AWARENESS.  The more aware one is of the nuances of their body, the more responsive it becomes to stimulus. The more we are aware of the thought patterns of the mind, the more we are able to control how those thoughts limit or enhance the experience. The more one is aware of their spirit, the more they can live in appreciation, enjoying the present moment.  It is becoming aware that leads us to better health”. OK then!
  • Mental focus- well you do need to concentrate so you do not fall out and land on your head!
  • Increasing Neuroplasticity (any new challenging exercise will do this!)
  • Oh and a lot of stuff about changing your Spirit!

Personally I think it looks like a lot of fun, and if it gets people exercising, what the hell- if they want to do something different! It may not do all it claims to and there is no such thing as Anti gravity (well with out the help of Richard Branson’s new plane!) But I like the idea of doing the next stage-

Aerial Acrobatics!

In the mean time I am sticking to my “reformer” and Pilates until I can find someone to teach me. If anyone has been to a class please tell me I am dying to know what its like! Next time I am in London I am going to find someone to teach me!

Just do not know anywhere thats doing it is Chile!-Yet!
