Very interesting Study on Nerve pain following Total Knee replacement. I have seen a few of these patients over the years and this study reveals that out of 54 patients who had a TKR, 9 reported neuropathic pain, and after 12 months they reported more pain, stiffness and difficulty moving more than the other patients in the study. After 4 years these patients still had symptoms and reported more depressions and less satisfaction with their TKR.
Not all knee pain post op is Inflammatory- make sure you look for neurogenic signs of pain, to target the pain you are treating correctly.
